Product Development Day
Alexis Ohanian, Jason Schwartz, Josh Seiden, San Kim, Tom Griffiths, Dario Buzzini, and Aaron Carambula
Saturday, May 19th from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
You have a great idea...but how do you turn it into a successful product? Everyone wants to create a brand that people love, like Apple, but it's not so easy to do. Startups often lack design resources and supporting data to measure if their product is market-worthy. In this day-long conference, you'll learn the tools and techniques you need to effectively manage your product from ideation to scale by expert instructors in technology, user experience, and product management.
At the end of the day we'll have a special UI/UX/brand design critique session, which will provide individuals or small teams with the opportunity to review their work in an informal environment with our panel regardless of where they may be in the design process -- from early sketches to fully functional prototypes or live sites. Presenters will have 15 minutes each to present and discuss their work with the panel; other attendees are invited to sit in and listen.
Don't miss out on this full day of presentations, panels, and networking at General Assembly.

Alexis Ohanian is the co-founder of reddit (now on the Board of Directors) and presently founder of breadpig. A year after helping launch hipmunk.com (doing all those things to make people love it) in 2010, he's now an advisor. Today he's an active startup advisor and investor (Das Kapital Capital), writing a book, and playing with his cat.
Dario Buzzini is the design director of IDEO.
Aaron Carambula is the Creative Director at Lore (formerly Coursekit) where he leads an integrated product and graphic design team. Prior to joining Lore, Aaron co-founded the design firm Objective Subject and helped grow it from small web and identity projects to rebranding the AP around the time of his departure. A type & lettering obsessive, he is a co-founder of Friends of Type and a graduate of the Type@Cooper typeface design post-graduate program. He is currently an AIGA/NY board member.
Tom Griffiths is the co-owner of Everything Studio, a multi-disciplinary design firm based in New York City. He currently teaches at Parsons.
San Kim is the founder/CEO of Easel, the company behind ShowMeApp.com. He also helps organize the NYC Lean Startup Meetup and the Columbia Venture Community, and holds a BA in Music. He's a self-taught UX designer and front-end developer, and is obsessed with learning from people who are better at stuff than he is. He blogs at sanonstartups.com.
Josh Seiden is a designer who has spent most of his career working on the design of complex software applications and integrating design into the product development process. Over the course of 20 years working in technology Josh has developed specialities that include Lean UX, interaction design, service design, and user experience design in agile software development environments. Josh is currently a founding partner at Proof, the product innovation studio based in NYC. He is also the NYC Program Director for LUXr.
Jason Schwartz is the founder of Matchbook, an iPhone app for remembering places like restaurants, bars, and shops. Matchbook has been repeatedly featured by Apple, so you're in good hands. He regularly consults in the Daily Deals space on product and metrics, and was formerly a product manager and UX designer at Angelsoft.net.
